With the rainy season just around the corner, we're launching a special event on June 4th (Thursday) that will make you want to visit the aquarium even if it rains, an event that can only be enjoyed on rainy days. In addition to aquarium decorations and special tanks themed around the rainy season and rain, a special version of "Sea Lion's Walk Time" will feature California sea lions and their trainers predicting the weather for the next day with the chant, "Let's have rainy weather!" Come and enjoy this event that will make you look forward to rainy days.

Frogs in the sea too!? Aquarium exhibit featuring frogs and frogfish.
The rainy season is often associated with frogs, but in this special aquarium exhibit, we will be showcasing a type of sea frog: the frogfish, a fish that gets its name from its resemblance to a frog.
Representing land frogs, we will display several Japanese tree frogs (Eastern Japanese tree frogs) and introduce their characteristics and differences in detail. As you observe, try to find similarities and differences. In addition, the area around the special aquarium will be decorated with colorful umbrellas and hydrangeas, which are motifs that brighten up the rainy season.

The outdoors are fun too! A sea lion's "May it be sea lion weather"
Aqua World Oarai boasts a wealth of facilities, including the hugely popular "Dolphin and Sea Lion Ocean Live" show held in the all-weather indoor theater, "Ocean Theater"! On rainy days, you can enjoy yourself just inside the aquarium, but we'll also be lending out umbrellas at the 3rd-floor entrance to the outdoor area, "Ocean Terrace," so you can venture outside and observe how the animals spend their time in the rain.
Furthermore, the "Sea Lion Stroll Time" during the event will be presented in a special version. California sea lions will take a leisurely stroll around the "Ocean Terrace" and try their hand at predicting the next day's weather using wooden clogs. The trainers and sea lions will throw the clogs while chanting "May it be sea lion weather!" and predict the weather for the next day. Pay attention to how accurate the sea lions' weather predictions are throughout the event!

Rainy days are special! Receive a free original waterproof sticker!
During the rainy season, to make going out on rainy days a little more enjoyable, we will be offering a special admission gift only on rainy days. During the event period,On rainy days (◇), one original waterproof sticker will be given to each elementary and junior high school student (excluding group visits) who enter the facility. international success.

The sticker features an original design with an illustration of the frogfish that will be featured in this special exhibition. You can stick it on the handle of your umbrella to use it as a marker. It's a special gift that you can get by visiting the aquarium on a rainy day.

Rainy Craft Experience on June 6th (Sat) and 7th (Sun)
To commemorate the event, our volunteer club, "Mambora Club," will be hosting a craft workshop on Saturday, June 6th and Sunday, June 7th. Together with volunteer staff, you can create seasonal treats like frogs and teru teru bozu (weather dolls) using origami and other materials. You can take your finished creations home, or you can display them in the "Creature Discovery Classroom" area as part of the event's decorations.

Aqua World Oarai's volunteer club, "Mambora Club"
The name "Mambora Club" reflects our wish to "enjoy volunteer activities in a relaxed and fun way, just like a sunfish!" Our regular activities include guiding visitors, providing explanations about wildlife, mainly through wildlife discovery classes, conducting craft workshops, and supporting other nature experience programs.
