A Christmas aquarium featuring a huge gathering of baby sharks! Only available at Aqua World Oarai

The main attraction of "Christmas Aqua World 2025" will be the "Christmas Aquarium" unique to Aqua World Oarai, which has the largest number of shark species in Japan.

The "Christmas Tank" is themed around "First Christmas" and will feature four adorable baby sharks born at the aquarium this year, celebrating their first Christmas, as well as the white-spotted sea shrimp, also known as the "Santa shrimp," which is characterized by its Santa Claus coloring.

The baby sharks on display this time are all species that our aquarium has successfully bred for the first time in Japan. In particular, Aqua World Oarai is the only place in Japan where you can see baby Australian marbled catsharks, which were successfully bred last December.

Hammerhead trees add to the Christmas atmosphere!?

In the Shark Daddy's Room, where a special tank will be set up, a "Hammerhead Shark Tree" will be set up, based on hammerhead sharks, which have been known to swim in schools, further enhancing the Christmas atmosphere. The approximately 2-meter-tall tree is decorated with approximately 150 scalloped hammerhead shark stuffed toys, creating an overwhelming presence. The stuffed toys were supervised by the aquarium's zookeepers, and are original, with attention paid to every detail, including the color of the body, the number and shape of the fins, and more.

Dolphin and Sea Lion Ocean Live Christmas ver.

The hugely popular Dolphin and Sea Lion Ocean Live will be offering a special Christmas program. This time, California sea lions will try their hand at a bell performance, and the dolphins will liven up the Ocean Live with their dynamic jumps to Christmas songs.

IWASHI LIFE in Winter

"IWASHI LIFE," which changes its content and presentation with each season, will switch to a winter-only presentation starting November 13. The sardines surviving the harsh winter seas will be shown alongside a mystical lighting effect reminiscent of an aurora floating in a starry sky.

First-time event! "Sea Christmas Marche" featuring handmade items at the aquarium

During the event, on Sunday, December 14, 2025, Aqua World Oarai will host its first ever "Sea Christmas Marche," a sales event for works by handmade artists. Approximately 40 stores are scheduled to set up stalls, with a wide variety of works, mainly small items and accessories with sea creatures and Christmas motifs. While spending time with the aquarium's creatures, you can enjoy discovering special, one-of-a-kind pieces.

Enjoy a thrilling time at the calming nighttime aquarium "NIGHT AQUAWORLD"

A special NIGHT AQUAWORLD edition, "Christmas Night," will be held from 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20th, just before Christmas, and on Wednesday, December 24th, Christmas Eve. The interior will be illuminated with romantic and mystical lighting, and there will also be a night-only dolphin and sea lion performance, "Ocean Night Live MEETS the BEATS."
