The parent individuals are a pair of "No. 2021" (female) and "No. 2023" (male), which successfully bred for the first time in Japan in 3 and the second time in Japan in 4.

"Sand Shark"Since they only breed once every two years, this breeding season marks their third consecutive successful breeding season.By the same individualThis is the world's first feat of three consecutive pregnancies and reproduction..

This world's first "three consecutive breeding successes" is proof that many years of research have made it possible to create an environment suitable for breeding "Sand Sharks," and we believe that this will also make a significant contribution to the conservation of this species, which is classified as endangered. The newly born juvenile fish, "No. 11," is female, and we are currently checking its health in an aquarium in the back yard. If it is expected to grow steadily in the future, we plan to exhibit it in an aquarium for visitors.

The timing of the public exhibition of the juvenile grey nurse shark (individual number No. 11) has not yet been decided, but we will make an announcement once it has been decided.
