In this special event, Shark Daddy will give a special public tour of the Second Research Laboratory, where he usually conducts shark breeding research.

In addition, panels are set up in various places in the museum to explain the mysterious ecology of sharks. A first in Japan! Exhibits start on April 4st! Sara Waxwell Shark (added March 1th)

Sarah Waxwell Shark

Sarah Waxwell SharkIt lives at depths of 100 to 150 meters from the western Pacific Ocean to the Indian Ocean, and grows to a total length of about 40 cm. It is a species of shark similar to the swell shark that lives in the waters off Japan, and when it is in danger, it has the habit of swallowing seawater to inflate its stomach to protect itself, hence its English name "swell" which means to inflate.

Sarah Waxwell SharkEgg

The most notable feature of this species isLaying eggs with "transparent" shellsYou can see the juvenile fish, which have different patterns from the adult fish, growing inside the glass-like shell. It is thought that the transparent shell helps it blend into the background of the coral and other reefs, making it harder for predators to find the eggs, but the details are not known.First exhibition in JapanBecomeSarah Waxwell SharkPlease take this opportunity to check it out.
